Sorry for leaving y'all hanging for so long! We've been very busy knitting all the things....
oh and taking a vacation to Mexico ....
during which we actually got a lot accomplished.
This post is pic-heavy! You've been warned.
Melatonin Blanket
I finished the pattern part of the blanket, blocked it (with great difficulty; I am a novice blocker)....
and began knitting the border squares. To my surprise, it took far fewer squares to make approximately the length of the long side.
To make it the proper size, I have to add about 12 inches to the main body...I cut it in half and knitted about six more inches on the bottom...in hindsight, perhaps I should have done that before blocking the rest of it. Whoops.
Then I began weaving in some ends to prepare the Z squares for blocking and joining...sure is a tedious task.
Yet to figure out: corner squares, and squares for the sides of the blanket, and joining those....
But, it's coming along!
Makes me sleepy to work on....especially in bed.
HP-Inspired Scarf
I was using a LOT more yarn than I anticipated for this project. I had already moved on to my second skein of the "bronze" color.
Additionally, since I switched from magic loop to DPNs halfway through, and probably because other reasons, the end of the scarf was way wider than where I was currently working...
So, in true Mir fashion, I frogged the whole thing and started again with fewer stitches (62 vs 80). It's going ok so far, but I haven't made as much progress since I've also been working on...
LOS PANTALONES
I really am excited about these. I finished the first skein (Malabrigo) and got 23 squares.
I definitely thought I would get more, although this does appear to be a lot. I also noticed (although I don't have a pic) that some of them are MUCH SMALLER than others...due to change in how tight I was holding the yarn. I'm thinking the earlier squares are the smaller ones.
Also.....I lost one of my 3.5mm needles somewhere in Mexico, or on our way back from Mexico, or something....and I'm wondering how big a difference it will make if I knit with 3.75mm...especially since I already have squares of varying sizes.
And, because 3 projects (plus 2 more I found when I cleaned the crap room yesterday) isn't enough, I decided on Thursday that I needed to make one more project....
It was pretty easy and super fun! But too big for my tiny head. :( So I gave it away, hoping that it will find a loving home, and I'll plan to make another one at some point. At least it was finished in time for the Shamrocks and Shots party (during which of course I had to crochet some shamrocks....no pics of those, either, darn it...)!
So, that's my update for now!
Yours in eknitity,
Mir
